Mark Murtagh, Business Support Manger/Mayor’s Officer

Mark Murtagh is the Business Support Manager and the Mayor’s Officer at Stamford Town Council. His role involves supporting the Mayor of Stamford with official engagements, managing policies, organising weddings, and providing support to the Town Clerk. Mark is also the Deputy Responsible Financial Officer and Burial Clerk. In his spare time Mark is heavily involved with the Stamford AFC The Young Daniels football team, and he also enjoys riding his vintage Vespa.

Victoria Newton, Heritage and Cultural Officer

Victoria Newton is our Heritage and Cultural Officer. Her responsibilities include collections management and protocol, developing a museum for Stamford, building partnerships in the sector and engaging with schools, visitors and residents to raise the profile of Stamford’s rich history. When it comes to her spare time outside of work Victoria enjoys discovering historic sites with her two sons and sausage dog Boudicca.

John Burke, Facilities and Allotment Officer

John Burke is our Facilities and Allotments Officer. John is responsible for the management, maintenance and administration of council assets, buildings, grounds, and allotments. He also oversees contracts for ground maintenance, ensures health and safety compliance, and manages the leasing of council-owned assets and facilities. Outside of work he’ll spend time gardening, cooking, walking his dog Milo, and enjoying local bike rides. Stamford is his hometown, and he also went to school in the area.

Allie Margiotta, Communication and Engagement Officer

Allie Margiotta is the Communications and Engagement Officer. Allie’s role involves managing social media, updating Stamford Town Council’s website, producing Stamford Town Council’s newsletter, liaising with the media, taking photographs and engaging with community groups and residents. Outside of work Allie regularly participates in Park Run events and likes to spend time enjoying local beauty spots with her young family.

Rachael Smith, Community Events Officer

Rachael Smith is the Community Events Officer for Stamford Town Council, where she leads the planning, coordination, and delivery of a diverse range of community and civic events. Her role involves collaborating with local organisations, stakeholders, and volunteers to ensure the events calendar runs efficiently and offers meaningful opportunities for public engagement.
Beyond her professional role, Rachael is an avid nature enthusiast. She enjoys exploring the local countryside on horseback, photographing wild birds, and caring for her much-loved “menagerie” of rescued animals – including pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, and horses.

Megan Roberts, Office Administrator

Megan Roberts is our Office Administrator. Megan is responsible for planning administration and the Planning Committee, administrative duties related to burials and the daily operations of Stamford Town Council, as well as purchase orders, supplies, and budget preparation. Megan enjoys getting involved in the theatre in her spare time, having played an active part in local theatre groups such as Stamford College Players, Seaton Starlights, Rutland Musical Theatre, and Stamford Pantomime Players.

Pauline Wilmer, Morning Receptionist

Pauline Wilmer is the Morning Receptionist at the Town Hall. Pauline provides assistance to the public and carries out a range of tasks to help with the day-to-day administration of the council. Having worked at Stamford Town Council for 26 years, she also provides hands-on support at civic and community events and weddings at the Town Hall.
Outside of work she enjoys sewing, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Heather Baldwin, Afternoon Receptionist

Heather Baldwin is the Afternoon Receptionist at the Town Hall. Heather is responsible for handling phone enquiries, assisting the public, and dealing with correspondence and administration. She also supports Stamford Town Council Events, getting involved with Spooktacular, the Christmas Fair and last year’s D-Day Celebrations. When Heather isn’t in the office, she likes to spend time outdoors, walking her dogs and riding her horse.

Katie Williams, Housekeeper and Amenities Supervisor

Katie Williams is Stamford Town Council’s Housekeeper and Amenities Supervisor. Katie helps maintain a range of Stamford Town Council facilities and amenities, including The Shack, the Town Hall and the Red Lion Square facilities. She also prepares rooms at the Town Hall for meetings and events. Katie likes to dedicate plenty of her spare time to her hobby of gardening

Ian Hornsey, Amenities Operative

Ian Hornsey is an Amenities Operative. His role involves a range of maintenance and horticultural duties to enhance the open spaces and facilities that Stamford Town Council is responsible for including the Cemetery, Meadows, St Micheal’s Churchyard, the Allotments and the Town Hall. His hobbies include model railway building, walking, gardening and ornithology.
