Stamford Town Council Green Spaces

The Meadows

The Town Meadows are a much-loved green space in the heart of the town, providing ample space for dog walking, recreation and relaxation. Throughout the year, a number of community events are hosted here by a range of organisations. The historic Millstream flows alongside the Meadows and is a picturesque spot for visitors while serving as an important habitat for wildlife.

Maintenance of the space

  • Stamford Town Council is responsible for the area of land from the Town Bridge up to the first complete fence across the Meadows.
  • The further two fields belong to the Freemen

For enquiries concerning the Meadows please contact the Town Hall: townhall@stamfordtowncouncil.gov.uk

The Recreation Ground

Just north of the town centre is Stamford Recreation Ground, a scenic green space, offering a range of facilities that can be enjoyed year-round. Amenities include tennis courts, a children’s play area, an outdoor gym and a skate park.

The Recreation Ground is also home to a historic bandstand, often used for live music performances at events organised by Stamford Town Council, and a ceremonial beacon that is lit to commemorate significant occasions and anniversaries.

Stamford Town Council also offers The Shack, a venue on the edge of the recreation ground with a large, enclosed garden which is available for public hire. Perfect for children’s parties, community meet-ups and youth groups, the space is accessible and is equipped with toilet facilities, a pool table, a slide hockey table, a kitchenette and more.
